This month we hope you will enjoy our photo essay on Tulum Puebo as it is today in January 2003. This is a GREAT town that you don't want to miss! You can find Tulum at the southern end of the Riviera Maya.
At night Tulum pueblo comes alive with restaurants, bars and street side bistros offering everything from tacos to totellini. Right now Charlie's has live music and dancing on Fridays and there are other night spots around town with great atmosphere. Drink, dine and dance all you like, but make sure to stroll around and visit a few different establishments. The variety is ever changing and increasing to suit the tourist trade. Tulum is small enough to have an intimate feel, but big enough for an interesting variety of stores, restaurants and nightlife. To be away from here for even 6 months is to find that a lot has changed in this town.
By day Tulum is a busy collection of back packing youth from all over Europe. They travel here for Tulum's amazing powder beaches (just a few kilometers away) and to meet others like themselves who come to Tulum as the Caribbean stop-over on their rush to cram as much sight-seeing in as they can before they have to go home. A typical extended trek goes through Guatemala and Mexico's Mundo Maya -Mayan world. The journey is usually by bus, from Tikal Guatemala to Palenque in Chiapas Mexico, then to Tulum and Playa del Carmen in Quintana Roo, and on to Uxmal and Merida in the state of Yucatan. There is always more to see than there is time... Tulum Mexico more... Tulum Ruins Tulum services
