Casa Grande is a beach front rental home in a newly established block in Playacar Phase 1. The beach in front of the house is wide, undeveloped and semi-private with only the occasional beach combers strolling past.
Sea, swimming pool and rooftop jacuzzi Water seems to surround Casa Grande with the magnificent Caribbean in front, beach view jacuzzi on top and swimming pool behind the house. The pool has a small sun deck with chaise lounges, plus a table and chairs for casual dining at pool-side. A door opens from the kitchen to the pool area for convenient pool service. Up on the roof, mom and dad will enjoy languishing in the jacuzzi while gazing out on the Caribbean, or up at the stars at night. There are a couple of sun lounges for tanning and a shaded picnic table for easy meals on the rooftop terrace.
Out on the beach, a large deposit of fine sand and little foot traffic makes the beach area right in front of the house an excellent semi-private tanning spot. The water entry is mostly pure sand so getting in is not a problem, however there is no outer reef break and no lifeguard, so swimming in high surf is definitely discouraged. From here, a ten minute stroll north up the beach will put you in central Playa del Carmen by the ferry dock and Señor Frog's. From there most of Playa is within easy walking distance, including Quinta Avenida (5th Av.), for lots of shopping and dining options, water sports and much more (see services below). Drive time from the house to central Playa is less than 5 minutes.
Inside on the lower level are the living room, kitchen and two of the four bedrooms. The overall ambiance is quite elegant, with a sky-lit cathedral ceiling over the dining room, solid marble floors throughout and mahogany cabinetry. The living room is off to the side of the formal dining room and has two posh L shaped couches, satellite TV, DVD and CD player, and the living room is air conditioned. The kitchen is on the other side of the dining room and has black granite countertops, mahogany cabinets, stainless steel appliances, plus a microwave, blender, coffee maker, etc.
The two downstairs bedrooms are individually air conditioned. Each has one queen bed, satellite TV service and its own marble bathroom with shower. The bedroom on the pool side has a glass slider that opens up to the pool deck. Both bedrooms have ample storage in lovely built-in cabinets.
The two upstairs bedrooms are accessed by a stairway from the dining room to the second floor landing, near the top of the cathedral ceiling. The first bedroom has two single trundle beds, each with an additional roll-away single bed underneath, plus satellite TV and a private bathroom. Next is the master bedroom with a king bed, en suite master bathroom and private terrace. Both of these two bedrooms are on the same level as the rooftop jacuzzi terrace for easy access.
The rooftop terrace is a very nice feature, designed to take full advantage of the terrific beach view. On the ocean side is an elevated jacuzzi that's great day or night. There is also a picnic table with shade umbrella for meals and snacks, and a couple of chaise lounges for tanning sessions.
