Puerto Morelos beach - Riviera Maya, Quintana Roo, Mexico

The beaches in Puerto Morelos (PM for short) are raked every day except Sunday. The town uses a surf rake (a tractor with a power rake attached) to rake the seaweed off ALL of the public beach area, which is about 1.5 miles long. This is a great town that still retains its heritage as a fishing village and is growing and changing constantly to accommodate the tourist trade. There is a nice beach in the center of town by Pelicanos restaurant, just off the zocalo (town square). There are beaches north and south in front of resorts, private properties and vacation rentals. A few are natural but most are raked by the properties on the beach front.
