According to the PGA... The Riviera Maya is slated to be the next golf mecca. New courses are springing up along the coastline attracting golfers to come and play a few rounds between dives and hanging out on the beach. We don't play golf but we were invited by the Mayan Resorts to come get some pointers from their pro and to see what we were missing. From the photos, Kay did not lack in style and fashion however she will not be touring with the Women's PGA anytime soon! Our day started with golf lessons for Kay (in her pink golf knickers by Golfknickers.com). Standing next to her is Calvin Nielsen, the resident golf pro at Mayan Resorts Golf Riviera Maya. You would be hard pressed to find a nicer guy than Calvin, and he's a great teacher. He knew he was in trouble when he saw Kay's outfit! | A little swing practice at the driving range was the prerequisite to going on the course. We then hopped into a couple carts to check out some of the course's 18-holes. Calvin was very patient with Kay and I, working with Kay on her stroke and tolerating me with photo-ops here and there. The day was beautiful and the sun was intense out on the course. This is a great way to have some sporting fun and catch a few rays at the same time. | |

After putting around, the Club House was a welcome retreat. We all had a cerveza and a laugh, winding up a thoroughly enjoyable afternoon on Mayan Resorts 18 hole Nicklaus Designed course.

For the first time in the American Junior Golf Association's 29-year history, with the support of the PGA TOUR's Mayakoba Golf Classic, the Association will conduct an AJGA Open event outside of the United States or Canada.
