Casa Almaviva is a beautiful oceanfront beach house located in the remote Sian Ka'an Biosphere Reserve, just a few miles south of Tulum beach and a world apart from the hustle and bustle of the rest of the Riviera Maya. Sian Ka'an means "where the sky is born" in Maya and it is the largest protected area in the Mexican Caribbean, home to a diverse ecosystem both above and below the waterline. It is unique for its barrier strip geography which has the Caribbean on one side and a vast mangrove estuary on the other. Just offshore is the Mesoamerican Reef, second in size only to the great barrier reef, and it is at your doorstep. Thousands of migratory birds fly overhead during the migration season in the spring and fall. Pelicans and shore birds are seen daily soaring along the shore. Sian Kaan tours and excursions for fishing, kayaking, bird watching, etc., are available from several providers along the Sian Kaan road, or in Punta Allen at the south end of the barrier strip.
Casa Almaviva has a marvelous organic ambiance which fits the natural environment of the Sian Kaan perfectly. The beach level main living space is open and airy with a breezeway that can be closed by large wooden louvered doors. Furnishings are very comfortable done in rich tropical hardwoods and woven reeds. In addition to the main living space, two bedrooms and a den are also on beach level. The master bedroom suite is on the upper rooftop level. It opens to a rooftop deck, shade palapa and jacuzzi.
