Villa Destiny is a rare find. An air conditioned beach house in the Sian Kaan Biosphere. It is perched on the high primary dune with an amazing 180° view of the Caribbean.
In the middle of somewhere special The upper Sian Kaan is a green barrier strip of land between a vast lagoon estuary (Laguna Campechen) and the Caribbean sea. There are very few accommodations available of any kind because of the strict environmental impact laws within the reserve (thank God). Villa Destiny is one of few quality alternate energy houses available within the reserve and it's just a few kilometers south of Tulum's beach restaurants and bars. Here you can marvel at the expanse of the inland waterways by joining boat tours into the heart of the reserve, wander on pristine beaches right out your front door, or take a short drive north to Tulum's beach establishments and their restaurant/bars, gift shops and convenience stores.
Alternate energy and luxury normally don't coexist but Villa Destiny is an exception to the rule. The owners have gone to great lengths to equip this villa in an elegant modern style, featuring a deluxe, fully equipped, kitchen, three bedroom suites, a long wooden sea deck facing the Caribbean, and a furnished rooftop observation deck with a 360° view of the sea and Sian Kaan's extensive mangrove estuary. The sea deck faces the view and is wonderful any time of day. There is a table with an umbrella and chairs, and a stainless gas grill that can be wheeled out for cookouts. From the sea deck a stairway goes down to the beach. There is also a shower at the top of the stairs for rinsing off after beach sessions. Up on the rooftop deck are a couple of chaises, a dining table with chairs, umbrella, and off to one side, the solar collectors that augment the villas power (house power is provided by solar, wind and quiet generator).
Inside, the main living space includes the living room, dining room and a deluxe kitchen. There a sea view from every room in the house and every major room has a glass slider to the sea deck. The fully equipped kitchen has stainless appliances, granite counters, a dishwasher, coffee maker, blender, toaster, etc. The dining room seats 6-8 people.
All three bedrooms are just off the sea deck. The master bedroom is next to the living room and has a king bed, large flat TV with satellite service, mini-gym area, beautiful master bath with jacuzzi tub, marble shower and double vanity. A slider opens to the sea deck. There is a storage/laundry area off the bedroom. Both of the other bedrooms are accessed from the sea deck and each has its own bathroom, ocean view and deluxe interior. One has a marble shower and the other has a jacuzzi tub.
The beach is wide and white with powdery sand stretching as far as the eye can see. A low thatched umbrella provides some shade and has a couple chaise lounge chairs. The surf fluxuates with the wind as there is no outer reef to break the waves. This can provide a lot of fun for body surfers and boogie boarders. Additionally, for lagoon-side fun, there is a kayak on the lagoon dock for exploring the pristine Sian Kaan Reserve's placid waters. Also, for fun on the lagoon try nearby CESiak Centro Ecologico Sian Ka'an for a variety of excursions into the Sian Ka'an reserve.
In the spirit of conservation we should mention here that the supply of freshwater for this house, and all properties in the Sian Kaan and on Tulum beach, is dependant on either rainwater collection or trucked-in potable water. We request that guests be judicious in their use of water during showers and in general during their stay. Be assured, there is an ample supply of freshwater in Villa Destiny's very large cistern upon arrival and it is refilled regularly.
