Corazon de la Tortuga is located on a short stretch of Paraiso Tankah beach where an unusual number of marine turtles have chosen nest annually, and they do it directly in front of the villa! Apparently in front of Corazon de la Tortuga there is enough boulder free fine sand to be a perfect nesting option. Marine turtle nesting and hatching season runs from mid May through October. From Spring through late Summer it's common the see turtles on the beach at night digging a hole and laying their eggs. Afterward they cover their eggs with sand and crawl back into the sea. It's a magical event to witness. Starting sometime in late July the baby turtles start hatching out and then make their first crawl to sea. This continues until late October. Inside Corazon de la Tortuga the lower level main living space is a massive room with the living room on one side, and the dining room and kitchen on the other. Four glass sliders on the lower level open to an ocean side porch and grassy lawn allowing full access to the sea side of the house and a wide sea view. The U shaped living room has a plush couch, coffee table and two padded chairs made of woven reeds. The living room faces bowed windows that allow a wider view of the sea. Across from the living room is the dining room which seats 12 and also faces the view. The kitchen is just off the dining room and it is a gourmet's delight, with a large central island, Viking stove/oven, dishwasher and full compliment of top quality accessories. The mahogany, black granite and stainless steel of the kitchen creates a upscale modern look that's first class all the way. If you prefer not to cook, the villa's in house cook will gladly prepare meals for you (additional).
There are three theme master bedrooms in Corazon de la Tortuga; one on the lower level and two on the upper level. All are on the ocean side of the villa with access to either the lower level ocean porch or the upper level terrace. The Mexican Room has one king size bed and a day bed. It features a high ceiling with brick dome cupola, master spa bath with walk-in sea view shower, bidet and toilet. The Yucatan Room also has a king bed. It's master bath has a large spa bathtub fashioned from native stone, an open shower and twin onyx sinks mounted on a thick mahogany pedestal. The third bedroom is the Bali Room featuring another king bed and day bed, handcrafted Balinese tropical hardwood furniture, and a beautiful custom bathtub with hand shower.
The swimming pool is on the garden side of the house which provides some protection from the sea breeze. Pool side there are a couple sun lounge chairs and a hammock. The greenery consists of palms and other tropicals. A food prep area for cookouts is provided. Also for your convenience is a rinse shower between the beach and the pool.
The crowning glory is the rooftop terrace with a large canopied day bed, a couple padded bench style sofas and a wet bar barbecue area. Anytime of day is a good time to check out the roof, but especially at twilight when the sky lights up. Stargazing or watching the turtles at night is a crowd pleaser, and a memory maker. There is a lot to like at Corazon de la Tortuga.
