Casa de Las Palmas, Tulum beach, Riviera Maya, Mexico
Casa de las Palmas beach house, one of few on Tulum beach

Casa de Las Palmas is one of few private homes on Tulum beach. It has a serene location tucked in among the palms on Tulum's beautiful white sand beach, just two miles north of the pristine Sian Kaan Biosphere Reserve and conveniently close to La Zebra Restaurant and Tequila Bar.

Inside, the casa is an upscale version of the Mexican beach style featuring exposed wooden beams and solid mahogany windows and doors. The casa itself is a two-story building with a small beach level shade patio and a rooftop lounge area under a shade arbor. There are ceiling fans in all major rooms and the sea breeze also helps to keep things cool. The casa is powered by alternate energy (all properties on Tulum beach are) and provides 24 electricity via its solar panels, wind generator and a backup super-quiet generator. You'll be able to whip up as many blender concoctions as you like, charge your electronics, and use the kitchen accessories all as though you were on pole power; all the while knowing that this home is very environmentally friendly.

The main living space on the lower level includes the living room and kitchen. The kitchen is slightly apart from the main space, separated by a breakfast bar peninsula with seating. The living room has a built-in L shaped couch, chairs and coffee table. Folding doors open to the beach side patio and outside dining area which has a beautiful view of the beach. The decor throughout the house is Mexican beach style with colorful fabrics and wall art, perfectly in step with Tulum's beach ambiance.

There are three bedrooms and three bathrooms. Each bedroom has a balcony. The master bedroom has a king bed and two beds for kids. The second bedroom has a queen bed and one kid bed. And the third bedroom has a queen and two single beds.

The beach and rooftop are wonderful for enjoying Tulum's tropical atmosphere. There is shade in both locations provided by a shade arbor on the roof and coconut palms on the beach. There are chaise lounges, boogie boards, kayaks, lots of hammocks, an outdoor shower and a barbecue. You will love beach combing on Tulum beach, and when you want to dine or have a little fun, La Zebra is perfect and very close by. There are many beach front restaurants just off the surfline. All have their own style and face the Caribbean.

The staff can do your shopping, arrange for a cook, organize tours, or just keep out of your space completely if you prefer. You decide how much or how little interaction you want from the casa's friendly staff.
