Hemingway's is tough to beat for an "unplugged" Tulum beach vacation. Their beach location is second to none and the cabañas are among Tulum's best. If you are looking for an escape from your personal Matrix, this is a it.
The cabañas are essentially arranged in three tiers: Sea front (on the beach), Sea view (the next row back), and Jungle view (in their garden area). All are on the sand and even the garden group is just a few steps off the beach.
Each cabaña has a front porch with a couple chairs and a hammock. Some have an overhang in front to provide shade while others are in full sun. Inside, bedding consists of kings, doubles and singles (details below). There are some rustic interior furnishings, a place to store your clothes and personal effects, and a private bathroom with shower. The folks at Hemingway have refined the classic Mexican beach style by adding flowing fabrics, detailed color schemes, some tile work and the occasional interior limestone wall for effect. It all blends seamlessly with the beach/jungle environment. Hemingway's cabañas are generally larger and of a higher quality than many Tulum beach cabañas. There is some power provided by alternate energy, mostly for lighting and low consumption electronics.
The restaurant serves a continental breakfast which is included in the room rate. It is right on the beach and has an exterior sun deck especially nice during twilight hours (unless you are looking for improve your tan). Under cover are chairs and tables where the meals are served.
The beach in front of Hemingway cabañas projects a little father out into the sea than it does for the adjacent properties (see aerial view link below), providing a better view up and down the beach. The sand deposit is massive, and the quality, fine and snowy white. Beach combing is a daily activity with the longest continuous stretch of sand to the south. This is an awesome location; a perfect place for those who want an organic beach vacation, devoid of ringing phones and email. Hemingway is a place to drop out for awhile, and let the sand and sea work their magic.
The philosophy of our restaurant -a note from the on-site staff
We don't work with a menu because we work only with fresh products. For example, we buy the fish that we cook from the fisherman who passes by us every day so we don't know what "the sea decides to give to us". In the restaurant we have only five tables and a little kitchen to give to our customer a high quality product with simple and natural recipes.
