Valladolid is the second oldest colonial city in the Yucatan peninsula
Valladolid sits on top of an ancient Mayan city of Zacil. Rich in history and culture Valladolid has been a popular day trip for visitors staying in Tulum, Akumal, Playa del Carmen and Cancun. It is a must to visit the zocalo, poke your head into the church, and saunter down the street to the convent. But the cenotes of the area are not to be missed.
Visit two beautiful cenotes right outside Valladolid
Jump into your rental car, or take a taxi and go to Dzitnup, one of the most photographed cenotes in the world. The light streaming down is angelic to say the least. And across the road is Cenote Samula which is another equally beautiful cavern. A stair way takes you to the waters edge so you can jump in for a swim.
