Playa del Carmen to Puerto Morelos in the Riviera Maya
This month’s spotlight is a follow up to last month’s aerial photos which covered much of the coastal lands between Boca Paila in the Sian Kaan Biosphere, and Akumal. As compared to our vintage 2003 aerials, the Riviera Maya’s resorts have grown both in number and size. Several large all inclusive resorts now feature new accommodation areas chock full of deluxe features, and a few even have new golf courses. There are developments under construction targeting ex-pat retirees or anyone with the resources to afford a golf club lifestyle, just minutes from the beach. To sum it up, as one would expect, The Riviera Maya is expanding, growing at a speedy pace in anticipation of future needs. It’s anyone’s guess what the future actually has in store but one thing is certain; as long as the beautiful blue Caribbean and sandy beaches are here, the people will come, all trying to capture their piece of paradise, if not on a long term basis, at least for a little while.
