We have done some research to share with you the details in case you want to experience it at one of the most beautiful place on earth; Riviera Maya.

The Origin Of Ayahuasca

The Ayahuasca is an ancestral brew made out of two main powerful plants; Ayahuasca and Chacruna. Ayahuasca also means “rope of the spirits because represents the link between the physical and spiritual world. Originally from indigenous villages of the Amazonas, this brew gives its name to the ceremony performed to drink it for spiritual purposes. This strong beverage activates the pineal gland and allows a hallucinogenic journey that is different to everybody. It is not a recreational experience but more like an introspective ritual. And the main purpose is to expand the state of consciousness and self-searching. This brew is extremely powerful and the ceremony has to be performed and guided by expert shamans. The ceremony of Ayahuasca is now known in many countries but Peru, Colombia, Ecuador and Brazil are the main consumers of Ayahuasca. This popular ceremony has a common denominator according most of the opinions from consumers. It gives you the tools to discover and improve yourself in ways that you never thought possible.

What To Expect During A Ceremony

Every ceremony is different and it depends on each person and the Shaman who organizes the ceremony. But it requires of a lot of previous preparation from the attendees. It is a strong journey; physically, mentally and spiritually. And experts recommend to do a previous cleanse in order to achieve the highest level of consciousness. These ceremonies usually last from 2 to 4 days in total in which Shamans monitor the attendees at all times. The previous preparation is necessary to make the most of your experience and get the best results. Some of the requirements are stop consuming alcohol, coffee, spicy food and meals with excessive fat before and after the ceremony. The body has to be as relaxed and light as possible the days before the ceremony. Some of the effects during the Ayahuasca include vomiting, diarrhea and fever as the body reaches the highest level of cleanse. This is why it is highly recommended to follow the requirements and instructions from the Shaman before and during the ceremony.

During the Ayahuasca most of the Shamans will provide towels, buckets and pillows for you to be as comfortable as possible. As soon as you drink the brew the Shaman will start singing and/or dancing though the ceremony. A small fire is lighted in the middle and everybody is seated around it. After 30 minutes of drinking the brew (more or less), your body will start showing the first reactions. Some people start to cry out of happiness or sadness. Others simply sleep but during that time they have revealing and hallucinogenic dreams. Some others feel like singing and dancing, but everyone will have their own journey to discover what is missing spiritually in them. The Shamans organize these ceremonies in secluded places like Tulum, often in direct contact with nature. The Ayahuasca ceremonies are becoming important events in this area and often visitors from all over the world travel specifically to be part of them.
