North Beach on Isla Mujeres is renowned as quite possibly the most beautiful beach in eastern Mexico, known for its soft white sands, calm, shallow waters, and spectacular sunsets. Several beach clubs line the main stretch of North Beach, each with its own restaurant and usually with a bar, too. Most of these beach clubs and restaurants are attached to a small Isla Mujeres hotel, and they all have beach beds or loungers available for rent; some loungers are rented for a set cost, while others are included when you spend a minimum amount on food and drinks.

Live Salsa Dancing at Fenix Lounge and Beach Club
North Beach’s iconic Fenix Lounge sits on the northernmost tip of the island, with the area’s calmest and clearest waters for perfect ocean lounging. Spend the afternoon sunbathing on a lounger by the sea, or get some drinks at the open-air restaurant and bar area. Even better, stop by on a Sunday afternoon for salsa dancing to a live band! (Fenix recommends you contact them on Saturday to see if there will be a live band the next day.) The massive menu here includes a lengthy list of cocktails, plenty of Caribbean seafood like ceviches and tostadas, and a variety of items like burritos, burgers, quesadillas, and even curry.
Green Demon Beach Club for Reggae Sunsets and Healthy Cuisine
The Green Demon is the beach restaurant for travelers who want to stay healthy while enjoying the views and the sunshine! Green Demon has tables and lounge beds on the sand for pure beach relaxation, and it serves light menu items like wraps, salads, fruit shakes, ceviches, and sandwiches, as well as a handful of vegan options. Stop by on Sunday evenings for live music at sunset, or try one of their monthly Full Moon Gatherings. They also have one of the best North Beach cocktails: the Green Demon made with White Bacardi, passion fruit, lime juice, and basil.
The Luxurious and Modern Oceanus Beach Club
Looking for refinement on the beach? The beautiful Oceanus blends rustic wood décor with contemporary details. Here you’ll find an open-air bar serving a variety of tequila, mezcal, beers and more, as well as a restaurant with a terrace and indoor seating; menu items include Mexican seafood and tacos, plus pizzas, pasta and burritos. While Oceanus is a bit more expensive than other North Beach restaurants, it provides a stunning setting and quiet lounge beds.
A Laid-Back Beach Vibe at Tuturreque 33
This casual open-air locale has a palapa-roofed dining area with wood plank floors, and a rustic-chic outdoor bar in addition to its rows of beach loungers on the sand. It’s one of the most well-shaded beach clubs on Isla Mujeres’ North Beach thanks to plenty of palm trees and umbrellas, making it a comfortable and relatively inexpensive option for a beach day.
Isla Mujeres’ Famous Buho’s Beach Restaurant and Bar
Sadly, the quality of service at Buho’s has gone downhill over the past year or so; however, their beachfront bar (with swings!) remains one of the most iconic and photo-friendly spots on Isla Mujeres. You can also rent Bali-style beds or order a meal under the massive palapa roof, and they also have sunset yoga sessions several nights a week.
Of course, North Beach’s restaurants have the best views and location, but you can also discover some of the region’s best cuisine throughout the rest of the island.
