Local Markets of the Riviera Maya
There are several weekly markets taking place through the Riviera Maya. These local markets offer a wide variety of produce, homemade baked goods and a variety of hand crafts and other products. Visiting the markets is a nice way to get your shopping done, the prices are usually very reasonable, but even more it’s an important way to connect with the community and experience daily life.

Local Market Schedule
Tuesdays:
Kava Kasa
11:00 AM – 1:00 PM, Located on 22nd Street between 5th and 10th Avenue in Playa del Carmen. Kava Kasa vendors offer organic produce, vegan and gluten free foods, homemade baked goods, jams, salsas and artisan crafts including clothing, jewelry, ornaments and wooden carvings.
Wednesdays:
Akumal Produce Market
9:00 AM – 12:00 Noon – Located just inside the arches and to the left. Fresh produce of all kinds at very reasonable prices. Check out the other craft vendors while in the area. A smaller version returns on Saturdays as well.
Puerto Aventuras Farmers Market
8:00 AM – 4:00 PM (Also on Saturdays) - Located behind the Marina area, just to the left of the post office. The market brings in a great selection of high quality produce at reasonable prices.
Papalote Market
1:00 PM – 3:00 PM – Located in Playa del Carmen at the Papalote School, 30th Street and 25th Avenue. The market is only open during the school year and offers fresh produce, baked good and handicrafts.
Puerto Morelos Weekly Market (Also on Saturdays)
9:00 AM – 12:00 Noon – End of November – End of April. Located to the west of the town square beside the church on Avenida Tulum. Produce, baked goods, homemade meals, and local artisans. Sellers change weekly
Sundays:
Jungle Spa Market
10:00 AM – 1:00 PM December – April. Puerto Morelos, located on Calle 2 North in the Zona Urbana. The Jungle Market has a great Mayan breakfast made by local women. There are performances of traditional Jarana dance starting at 11:30 AM. You can find an assortment of unique handmade crafts and gifts here. Great place for gifts to take home.
Mercado Maya Tulum
9:00 AM - 4:00 PM Sundays in Tulum your chance to meet and buy from local producers of fresh fruits and vegetables, eggs, meats, and tamales! Homemade foods, artisan baked goods, hand made arts and crafts.
Other Markets Worth Trying to Visit
Aldea Farmers Market
Held the first Sunday of each month on the Coba Road. The market caters to people interested in wellness and highlights natural and organic products. Fresh produce, handicrafts, traditional Mayan medicines, crafts and foods.
